I don’t think I agree with this theory. It caught on with adults because it was simple and focused on content creation (e.g. answering what you’re doing in interesting ways) instead of a closed circle to connect with your friends (e.g. wall posts). The adults that discovered Twitter were long-time bloggers and blog readers, not people who were new to social networks.
